2024-02-08: Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) deserves a place in a "Profiles in Courage" for the 21st century. "A Princeton and Georgetown-educated PhD, a Marine veteran and a committee chairman, he had warned his GOP colleagues not to “pry open the Pandora’s box of perpetual impeachment.”" For that he was encircled and screamed at by his Republican colleagues.
2024-02-09: I noticed that when Trump says dozens of times in depositions that he can't remember, the press attributes it to lying, but when Biden can't remember something, it's because he's old.
2024-02-12: Despite what you'll hear over and over for the next year, if the Chiefs win the NFL championship next season, they'll be only the *second* team to win three in a row. The Green Bay Packers did it in 1965, '66, and '67.
2024-02-14: What's been curious to me is that the Richardson Area Democrats don't seem to have an agenda of what to accomplish by putting their favored candidates on City Council. They endorse candidates but for what? If RAD has a published platform for the City somewhere, I'd appreciate someone pointing me at it.
2024-02-16: Why should anyone be surprised that Trump would be found guilty of civil business fraud? After all, in 1987 he had a book ghostwritten for him titled, "The Art of the Steal" (paraphrased).
2024-02-17: In RISD School Times, the Richardson school district promoted the start of early voting with this quote: “We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate." They attributed it to Thomas Jefferson. It's a stirring call to vote. The only trouble is that this quotation has never been found in the writings of Thomas Jefferson, according to the "Thomas Jefferson Encyclopedia."

2024-02-19: Reading old newspapers is fascinating. Here's an entire notice from the Appleton (WI) Post-Crescent 27 Oct 1914: "Martin Magnus, who has been operating a peanut wagon on College avenue, has stored his wagon for the winter."
2024-02-28: "Mitch McConnell to step down as Republican Senate leader in November, setting up a high-stakes race for his successor." Could this be an example of the adage, "Be careful what you wish for. You might get it."
