Random Thoughts: The Evangelical Church is Breaking Apart

Mastodon

2023-10-04: Headline: "THE EVANGELICAL CHURCH IS BREAKING APART." In fact, the church has been breaking apart since Martin Luther. Or since 1054. Take your pick. It's like Jesus said, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there will be a schism." (Matthew 18:20).

2023-10-10: Hamas accomplished what l wouldn't have guessed was possible: make Israel look like the victim in their relationship with Palestinians.

2023-10-13: The candidacy of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) as GOP nominee for Speaker of the House, lasted 1/10 of a Scaramucci (or Mooch). I guess this new unit of measure could be called a Scalise.

2023-10-17: Jim Jordan fell short of being elected Speaker of the House. That's not what's important here. What's important is that 200 Republicans voted *for* him. Jim Jordan. 200. When Republicans tell you who they are, believe them.

2023-10-21: Well done, GOP. You know how to pick -em.
First, Kevin McCarthy (who flew to Mar-a-Lago after January 6 to prostrate himself before Trump).
Second, Steve Scalise (self-described as "David Duke without the baggage").
Third, Jim Jordan (the former wrestling coach accused of turning a blind-eye to sexual abuse at Ohio State).
Who is next?

2023-10-21: Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News says the Texas Rangers know seasons that "end with absolute sports soul-crushing postseason disappointment." 2023 is playing out to form.

2023-10-23: As GOP speaker-nominee, Jim Jordan lasted seven days, or seven Scalises.
