Today's photo-of-the-day is of the most famous of Amsterdam's canal houses: the Anne Frank House. Seventy five years on, tickets to enter the house, now a museum, still sell out days ahead of time. But tourists come by anyway to see the house from the outside.

The Anne Frank house is the house in the center, between the trees. It's such a peaceful scene today, it's hard to imagine the horrors here in 1944.

my daughter and her husband toured the house when they were in Amsterdam. Quite moving, they said. The horrors of war.
