"Texas Woman Accused in Beating of State’s Former Lieutenant Governor"

Heavy.com
The headline says "Texas Woman Accused in Beating of State’s Former Lieutenant Governor." If that made you think of Stefani Carter, you should be ashamed of yourself. Either that or you know way too many details about the inside baseball of Texas politics. The woman in the headline is Leslie Ann Caron. If that made you think of Leslie Caron the movie star, well you'd be wrong again. But it would prove you don't know way too much about the inside baseball of Texas politics. Our woman of interest, arrested for "injury to an elderly person" (ouch), is Leslie Ann Caron, a political fundraiser. There is a connection to our Stefani Carter. Patience. We'll get to it.

According to Heavy.com, Caron is 40. Former Lt. Governor David Dewhurst is 74. She was arrested and charged with causing bodily injury "by striking the Complainant with her hands and feet and by biting the Complainant with her teeth."

What does this have to do with Stefani Carter? Nothing, really. It's Caron's history that provides a connection between Caron and Carter. There's no transitive property at work here that connects Carter to Caron to Dewhurst and the beating. Who is Stefani Carter? Over the years, she's filled many pages of The Wheel, most recently in April, when a company Carter serves on its board of directors tapped the Paycheck Protection Program for $126 million (before turning it down after the bad publicity it caused).

Today's story about Leslie Ann Caron takes us back to 2010, when Stefani Carter burst onto the Texas political scene, thanks in part to Leslie Ann Caron. Heavy.com says Caron's LinkedIn page brags that, "In 2010, Leslie devised a strategy for successful Republican challenger, State Representative Stefani Carter, that raised over $1.3MM in what has been called the most expensive Texas House race in history."

There you have it. Richardson was graced with having Stefani Carter represent the city in the state legislature thanks, in part, to her hiring Leslie Ann Caron who brags that she was responsible for "the most expensive Texas House race in history." The same Leslie Ann Caron who has just been charged with hitting, kicking, biting, and causing "injury to an elderly person." Stefani Carter surrounds herself with "all the best people." Wait, that's another politician, another story.
