2023-05-02: Headline: "2023 NFL Draft team-by-team grades: Eagles, Steelers and Lions clean up; Cowboys, Patriots among worst marks."
Time for a new general manager. Amiright???

2023-05-03: UT-Dallas is an asset for Richardson that the City should leverage.
"Allegro officials cited the number of other technology companies in the area and the talent pipeline created by The University of Texas at Dallas as reasons for expanding to the city."

2023-05-03: The cost of Brexit to Great Britain:
"By 2024, the average British household will likely have a lower living standard than the average household in Slovenia. On present trends, the average British household will be poorer than the average in Poland by 2030."

2023-05-08: You know, back in my day, someone who seemed to be obsessed with guns was looked at suspiciously and often reported to police. Today, such a person is considered by many to be just another patriotic American.

2023-05-11: "Pakistan's Supreme Court ordered that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be released from custody, escalating a political crisis that has engulfed the country."
I used to take solace in thinking that as divided as the US is, other countries are worse. Lately my reaction is more like, is this where we are headed, too?

2023-05-11: @tristansnell, serious question...which is the least bad cable television 24 hours news source?

2023-05-14: Florida Gov. DeSantis "and his team have had internal conversations acknowledging the need for him to engage in the basics of political courtship: small talk, handshaking, eye contact."
The same is true in politicking at the local level. Dubey was better at this than DePuy.

2023-05-15: Headline: "North Carolina beach houses have fallen into the ocean. Is there a fix?"
Sure. It's called Net Zero Carbon.

2023-05-17: What is the purpose of a corporation? Today, the standard answer is that a corporation's purpose is to benefit its shareholders.
"I'll say what I want to say, and if the consequence of that is losing money, then so be it." -- Elon Musk.

2023-05-17: Projection: do you know how whenever Donald Trump does something wrong, he starts spreading accusations of the other side being guilty of whatever he did? Well, today's headline was "US Secret Service probing break-in at National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan's home."
Like clockwork, I get an email from Donald Trump with the subject line, "Harassing my staff."

2023-05-22: I support zoning and regulatory reform to allow ADUs in Richardson. I don't support the state legislature setting zoning laws for Richardson.

2023-05-24: "Rating change: Allred puts Texas Senate race on the battleground." - Roll Call

"Democrats have lost more than 100 consecutive statewide races in Texas over the past 30 years, so on the surface it doesn't make sense to move the 2024 U.S. Senate race in their direction. But the contours of the race have changed."

2023-05-24: G.O.P. Split in Texas Breaks Wide Open With Drunkenness Accusation against House Speaker by indicted Texas Atty. General.
If I have to pick sides in this fight, I side with the drunk over the crook. (H/T Jim Schutze)

2023-05-27: I just messaged my state representative, Angie Chen Button. I told her, "Impeach Ken Paxton. You know in your heart it's the right thing to do. Just do it."

2023-05-27: She voted to impeach him! Good for her.

2023-05-28: Now that my Texas state rep voted to impeach Ken Paxton, I messaged my Texas state senator, Bob Hall: "Vote to convict Ken Paxton. In your heart, you know it's right. Just do it."

2023-05-28: The comeuppance of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is an example of the political analogy of old houses: their wood rots slowly for a long time, but collapse is sudden and fast.

2023-05-29: Succession finale (with spoilers): Ended the only way possible. None of the four damaged children could succeed Logan. Neither can Tom, but he'd be a useful tool for Matsson. Tom and Shiv's story is the best candidate for a spin-off. A-
