Random Thoughts: "We're Under Invasion from Within"

Mastodon

2025-10-01: Trump: "We're under invasion from within."
Police: "Sir, we've traced the call. It's coming from inside the White House."

2025-10-06: Public speakers were out in force today at the Richardson Texas City Council meeting to speak on behalf of Marwan Marouf, a community leader from Richardson, TX, who was detained by ICE on Sep 22, 2025, while dropping his son at school. His detention coincided with the denial of his green card application, which cites decade-old accusations of providing "material support" to the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) through his volunteer work and nominal donations in the 1990s.

2025-10-09: News: "Illinois files lawsuits seeking to block Texas National Guard soldiers from being deployed."
Great. President deploys national guard across the Mason-Dixon line. It seems like this rhymes with something bad from American history.

2025-10-10: Today's question on "Truth or hoax?"
"RFK Jr pushes fringe claim linking autism to circumcision."
Sad to say, that one's true. Not the claim. That RFK Jr is pushing it.

2025-10-12: Education Dept. "cut nearly everyone who works to administer federal funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act."
Step by step, instead of "America First," we're getting "Young, White, Able-bodied Males First."

2025-10-14: “Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated." | Anne Frank
"Are we the Nazis now?" | Joyce Vance

2025-10-14: I would have thought that being compared to Nazis would embarrass people and make them question their behavior, or at least deny it, but on second thought, I worry that too many Americans are responding, "Yay, Nazis."

2025-10-27: This week's NextDoor controversy: Half the commenters bemoan removal of trees in the small Memorial Park. The other half don't care about trees. They want to take parkland to add a turn lane.

2025-10-27: This week's NextDoor damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you don't controversy. One commenter complains that a bench on the sidewalk by Del's hamburger doesn't face the street. Another complains that a bench on the sidewalk by Berkner Park does.
